My Friend Jamal - before the civil war in Somalia
Mogadishu is the largest city in Somalia. It is its capital city. It is located in the coastal Benadir region on the Indian Ocean. It has an estimated population of about 2 million. Mogadishu is still a major port and trading boats use the port to transport goods but due to the continuing violence, the city is a very dangerous place.
However this was not always the case. Mogadishu was once a wonderful city with some of the most beautiful beaches in the world. They are very sandy and there are vibrant colourful coral reefs in the sea. Mogadishu houses the Mogadiscio Stadium which plays host to the Somalia Cup and to football teams from the Somalia League.
