My Friend Jamal - Arabic Writing
Arabic is a very old language and has been used since the 4th century AD. Unlike English, Arabic is read right to left across the page.
There are 18 letter shapes, which vary depending on whether they are connected to letters before or after.
There are 2 types of Arabic:
1. Classical Arabic: This is the language of the Qur’an. This is the original form of Arabic.
2. Modern Standard Arabic: this is the universal language of the Arabic-speaking world. Unlike the qur’an it is Arabic which is understood by all Arabic speakers. It is used for Arabic magazines, teaching, tv etc.
